Colin K. McNeil joined the firm in 2008 after serving as a Deputy State’s Attorney at the Chittenden County State’s Attorney’s office. He is a Burlington native and a partner in the firm. His practice focuses primarily on municipal and employment law and the defense of governmental entities but he is also a general practitioner, assisting clients with a broad range of legal needs from business organization to real estate or drafting a will.
Colin’s strengths are his ability to effectively work with people, his responsiveness, and his vigorous representation of the best interest of his clients. He is experienced in negotiating collective bargaining agreements between municipal entities and unions and often represents his clients before arbitrators and Courts with favorable results. He represents school districts and municipalities and provides representation on all manner of legal matters including policy and ordinance development, employee discipline, governance and general operations.
He is well versed in Vermont’s public records law and assisting municipal entities in conducting tax sales. Due to his broad range of experience, he has been called upon to conduct workplace investigations for municipal clients and has been engaged as a hearing officer in grievance proceedings. He is admitted to practice before all of Vermont’s Courts and the United States District Court for the District of Vermont. He also practices before the Vermont Public Service Board and Environmental Court.
